The Sanford House Team is pleased to invite you to an open house and conversation about mental health. We are partnering with i understand, a non-profit organization who’s mission is to support those who have lost a loved one by suicide or struggle with mental illness. i understand provides compassionate comfort to individuals and communities by: hosting monthly educational awareness events in West Michigan; providing speaking engagements on the topic of mental health and life after losing a loved one by suicide; and delivering mental health care packages to patients in West Michigan and families around the world.
Our goal on Thursday, August 24th 5-7 PM, is to open the doors and the dialogue to the connection between mental illness and addiction, and to provide some “real life” tools and coping strategies. Presenters are Vonnie Woodrick, founder of i understand and Rae Green, founder of Sanford House.
The event will take place at 221 John Street, Grand Rapids, Michigan – the site of the recently restored Hazeltine mansion. Sanford House at John Street is a gender specific, addiction treatment center for men. Sanford House at Cherry Street is their gender-specific women’s facility.
