Brenda L. Kargel, RN, MSN

Family Nurse Practitioner

Brenda Kargel has had a personal interest in addiction therapy for quite some time. Her background has been in mental health care and she says, “I think many people with addiction problems started using their drug of choice because they could not or did not get the help they needed. I am happy to be on the cutting edge at Sanford House. Looking at the whole person and treatment at the same time.”

Brenda has a rich history. She received her MSN and Family Nurse Practitioner’s certificate from Grand Valley State University. She has worked as an educator, in acute care, and in office practice in both the public and VA systems. At Sanford House she works with Dr. Campbell to provide “the best medical care possible”. This includes managing the physical effects of use and withdrawal, everyday chronic care and minor wellness issues (like sore muscles from new exercise). Brenda is a wife, mom and grandma who enjoys her family, cooking and gardening in her free time…

“My overall motto is: people don’t care what you know until they know that you care. The residents at Sanford House are people who happen to have the disease of addiction.  And they get specialized care here.”
