A conversation with Jeff Jay, Author of Navigating Grace

Best-selling author and addiction specialist Jeff Jay recently visited Sanford House for a reception and book signing of his spiritual memoir Navigating Grace. Five years in the works, he spoke with Sanford House Founder Rae Green about the soulful account of his solo sailing adventure, which ultimately became a journey of personal transformation.  Known for the bestselling book Love First  (co-written with his wife Debra Jay) that revolutionized the field of intervention, Navigating Grace is Jeff’s personal story of long term recovery from alcoholism. Selling everything he owned, Jeff boarded a 39 foot sailboat and set off for the Caribbean with plans for a “floating half-way house.” In this brief interview, Jeff shares how this book differs from his prior “how to” books and what happened when he sailed into the “teeth of a terrific storm” and it appeared he was going to die. This inspirational tale serves as part of the curriculum at Sanford House, transporting readers to a place where life can look very different…
