A Conversation with Marilyn Spiller, Waking Up the Ghost

The Sanford House interviews Marilyn Spiller, recovering addict and author of Waking Up the Ghost, about her experiences. After six months of unsatisfactory sobriety, Spiller found comfort and redemption in writing her thoughts and struggles down in her inspirational blog. Two years into her sobriety, Spiller confesses her deepest feelings and simplest thoughts  in Waking Up the Ghost. When discussing feelings such as resentment, and her other ups and downs, Spiller says, “It’s universal, I think, in recovery – some of the feelings that I have.” The humanity and genuineness behind her writing are relatable to anyone in recovery (or those thinking about it). Among the readers of her daily blog, are the women of The Sanford House, who find her confessions inspiring.
