Clinical Manager of Outpatient Services – Substance Use Disorder

Responsibilities include:

  • Fulfill duties and responsibilities as outlined in Clinical Therapist job description.
  • Provide support for carrying out overall clinical programming at OP Center and ensure
    adherence to local, state, agency, and accreditation regulations and standards.
  • Provide support and training on case files (utilization reviews, level of care requests,
    ASAM guidelines, treatment plans, assessments, discharge summaries, CARF
    standards, case notes, group notes, KIPU, etc.).
  • Facilitate weekly client review conferences with clinical team and address clinical needs
    and concerns. Structure clinical topics for weekly clinical case conference. Include a
    record of minutes for documentation. Facilitate clinician processing, mentoring,
    collaboration with the clinical staff and interns at OP.
  • In collaboration with Director of Outpatient Services, review clinical documentation of OP
    staff.
  • Monitor clinical hours and efficient allocation of clinical assignments at OP.
  • Oversee all clinical and treatment services; provide formal and informal direction to OP
    clinicians/ interns, develop and instruct clinical programming. Devise instructional
    strategies to accommodate needs of clinical therapies while promoting an environment
    that facilitates innovation creative solutions and empowerment.
  • Maintain all files and records in accordance with quality assurance standards.
  • Monitor the needs of clients, including inter-agency referrals and follow-up, including
    review of clinical documentation to LJAP, HPRP, attorney’s, courts, etc.
  • Coordinate with Director of OP Services and other OP clinicians to facilitate weekly
    schedules, including scheduling IOP and OP group times and individual sessions,
    additional groups as needed, and creation of a calendar each month to document the
    curriculum. Communicate with manager of Clinical Operations if coverage is needed.
  • Support OP clinical staff, and co-facilitate family sessions, individual sessions and group
    sessions as clinically needed. Assist OP clinicians in resolving clinical/ethical issues and
    seek consultation with clinical director when appropriate. Work with OP staff to prioritize
    individual therapy sessions and verify that therapist’ scheduled commitments to clients
    are fulfilled.
  • Participate in/facilitate interviews for potential clinical/intern candidates at OP.
  • Maintain contact and collaborate with Manager of Clinical Operations and communicate
    with clinicians at Cherry and John street as needed to assist with continuity of care.
  • In collaboration with clinical director, conduct annual performance evaluations for OP
    clinical staff.
  • Carry out effective and professional interactions with the multidisciplinary team (clinical,
    medical, admissions, operations).
  • Plan and coordinate activities and presentations that promote outside resources
    (including but not limited to guest speakers and specialty therapists).
  • Adhere to established professional code of ethics and standards of practice to promote
    the best interest of the client.
  • Assure maintenance of client rights, health, welfare and safety by providing support to all team members and by maintaining continuity of quality care.
  • Work with Director of OP and designated third party certified professional to develop policies and procedures that support and add structure to the OP clinical program.
  • Adhere to established professional code of ethics and standards of practice to promote the best interest of the client and provide support to all team members by maintaining continuity of quality care.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Limited Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Professional
    Counselor or equivalent with appropriate licensure and/or certification with the state of
    Michigan.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in the human behavioral field and clinical experience
    with supervision.
  • A good working knowledge of requirements, criteria, and authorization processes for
    insurance and accreditation.

Preferred Skills:

  • CAADC certification and/or CCS certification.
  • Good communication skills, self-motivation, leadership skills, knowledge of case
    management, and good decision-making ability.
  • Ability to work with a team milieu approach to treatment.
  • Expertise in the dynamics of addiction.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge or experience with the 12 Step program of recovery.
  • Facilitative skills and ability to provide recommendations to clinical staff regarding client
    care.
  • Skilled in time management

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year (compensation negotiable based upon experience).

Program Nurse – Substance Abuse/Mental Health

  • Daily assessments on clients regarding their substance use disorder, mental health illness and any other medical concerns that may arise.
  • Daily vital sign assessments.
  • Communicating client concerns to the Nurse Practitioner (NP) on a daily basis. This includes but is not limited to: acute withdrawal symptoms, medication effectiveness, side effects and/or abnormal vital signs.
  • Completing new client medical pre-screens, intakes and obtaining appropriate orders from NP.
  • Facilitating Vivitrol Enrollment for all clients as needed, and helping with MAT clients as needed.
  • Submitting e-prescriptions as needed for all clients in all levels of care.
  • Educating clients and staff on safe medication administration and management.
  • Utilizing an electronic medical record (EMR) for all documentation.
  • Driving between 2 houses. The Sanford Campus is comprised of a male and female house, less than 1 mile apart. The nurse will perform duties at both houses.
  • Attending mandatory monthly nursing meetings for client care continuity, education and implementing new processes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current license in Michigan
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with current license in Michigan

Desired skills:

  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, mental health illnesses and associated treatments.
  • Substance withdrawal assessment skills.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, and/or Clinical Psychology
  • LCSW, LPC, LMHC, LMFT, LP, PsyD or similar licensure in the state of Michigan or eligible for licensure in the state of Michigan.
  • CEDS certification, or interest in pursuing same.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct patient care experience working in an eating disorder treatment setting, preferably with 2+ years of prior supervisorial responsibilities.
  • Experience working in a residential treatment setting.
