Lynnel Brewster RN, MA, NCC, LLPC Counselor

From the very beginning, Sanford House encourages families to be involved in the recovery process. Because addiction is a disease, it can be difficult for husbands and children to understand that they cannot control the person in recovery, but can only support them throughout the process.

Often times, when women come home from recovery, families expect things to return to normal. Lynnel encourages families to come together and realize that recovery is a process, and that it will take time.

Sanford House urges families to never give up hope and never pass judgment. Lynnell also urges family members to seek help while their loved one is going through the recovery process. At Sanford House, Monday night is Family Night. This allows families to set expectations and express emotions.
