Amy J. Bukala, FNP-BC
Family Nurse Practitioner
Amy J. Bukala is a Board Certified, Family Nurse Practitioner. She says, “I love the variety of clients I work with. Each one has an amazing story to tell and I learn from every one of them.” And Amy has certainly seen variety. She worked for 9 years at a Behavioral Health Hospital, most recently with inpatient, co-occurring disorders. The holistic treatment and cohesiveness of the staff is what she most admires at Sanford.
Amy received her undergraduate degree from Grand Valley State University and her master’s degree from DeVry University. She has her psychiatric certification and performs psychiatric evaluations. She also prescribes Suboxone treatment (MAT), under direction of Medical Director Dr. Mozentine, for substance use disorder clients.
In her free time, Amy likes trying new food, watching Netflix, playing tennis and spending time with family – especially her 6 nieces and nephews.
Amy says, “Addiction does not discriminate. It is an illness that cannot be defined by social status, race or gender. When clients come to Sanford House I tell them, ‘So far you’ve survived 100% of your worse days. When you work with our multidisciplinary team, we will help you learn that you are worth a life in recovery’.”
