Karli Henning, MA, LLPC
Karli Henning has an educational background (BA and MA) in English and Creative Writing. Her dream was to become an English professor. But she decided she wanted to have a career where she could help people directly, and switched paths to become a therapist. Which meant another master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University. Karli says, “I went from reading and writing fictional stories to hearing and exploring real life stories.”
Karli served as an intern at Sanford for eight months and now is part of the Clinical Therapy team. She was happy to stay on, as she particularly enjoys working with Sanford staff. She says, “Time and again I get feedback from clients that every staff member in every position seems to truly care about what they are doing each day.”
In her free time, Karli likes to read and write. She also has a 1-year old puppy at home named Sunny who takes up a lot of her free time.
Karli says, “Addiction treatment offers individuals struggling with SUDs the opportunity to bravely tell their stories. And it provides them with the tools necessary to take authorship of the next chapter of their lives. I love being able to play a role in the process of helping clients see possibilities for the future that were not visible before.”
