Leah Mayotte, LPC, CAADC, EMDR
Clinical Manager - Sanford House at John Street
Leah Mayotte spent the past 11 years working as a substance abuse and trauma counselor in Charlevoix, Michigan. So her move to Grand Rapids, after her recent marriage, was a boon to Sanford House! Leah has a master’s degree in Counselor Education: Clinical Mental Health from Western Michigan University. She is a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC). And has certifications as a Trauma Practitioner (CTP), Clinical Supervisor (CCS), and is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). And she has experience with both group and individual counseling.
Leah comes by the work quite naturally. Both her parents are in long-term recovery. So, she has been able to witness first hand the “positive ripple effect recovery can have on a family”. As Clinical Manager, Leah conducts assessments, facilitates group and individual sessions for the men at John Street, and oversees programming for the facility. She’s excited to help others on their paths to recovery.
In her free time, she likes to walk her dog Zetty. She’s also a big sports fan. And she likes to spend time with that new husband – just watching movies or exploring local restaurants.
Leah says, “I am extremely passionate about working in this field. I strive to help individuals and their families learn that recovery from addiction and alcoholism is not only possible, but realistic.”
