Wes Selent, MS
Executive Director, Sanford Addiction Treatment Centers
Wes Selent has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Business Administration from Spring Arbor University, as well as a Master of Science degree in Sports Administration from Canisius College. He grew up in Southwest Michigan, but moved to Salt Lake City several years ago. There he “discovered” residential treatment. He took a job as a direct care staff member at
a lockdown treatment facility for adolescents. As a result, he fell in love with the hands-on,
everyday involvement in the lives of his clients.
Helping adolescents through difficult, formative years of their lives became a passion. And that experience led him to oversee the residential departments at a co-ed therapeutic boarding school and a girls’ residential treatment center. In 2016, Wes became a founding partner of Equinox RTC,
in North Carolina. Recently, as Wes’s kids started to get older, he and his wife felt a pull to get back to Michigan, closer to family. He was excited to bring his experience in the mental health world back to his home state. Wes says this is when he discovered Sanford. Or perhaps Sanford found him…
As Executive Director of Sanford Addiction Treatment Centers, Wes is involved in every department. He helps to ensure Sanford leaders and staff have the support they need to focus on treating clients and their families. When he’s not working, Wes spends a lot of time with family – his wife (also a Sanford professional) and 3 kids. They enjoy sports or outdoors related activities, and
love to travel and explore new places.
Wes says, “ I love that Sanford Behavioral Health is a family owned treatment facility, which clearly stays true to their values in client care. The energy and passion for addiction treatment that is exhibited here everyday is inspiring.”
